Jim Graywolf Petruzzi, also known as Jim White Spirit Bear, is a shamanic medicine and earth medicine practitioner, life coach, intuitive psychotherapist, spiritual guide, ceremonialist, wedding officiant, indigenous and spiritual, public speaker, storyteller, teacher/tutor, animal communicator/healer, grief counselor and creative writer.
Jim has acquired his knowledge of systemic living from nature and, indigenous elders, and through University degrees and has spent the last 45 years working in and with nature as a healer and teacher as he traveled the world learning from elders and educators. His primary indigenous teachers were Lakota and Mayan, but he also lived with Australian aborigines, African Garifuna and Celtic teachers. Jim is Romany Gypsy by birth, his blood is Italian and gypsy.
His grandmother taught him visionary skills before her leaving. He is also a member of the United Western Lenape tribe as well (Chief Ambassador) – due to his Native American blood. A true ‘mongrel’, he loves to create programs and transformational systems for people by pulling from the cornucopia of cultural teachings he has acquired. He coined the phrase “energetic alchemy” to define how he created the trainings and programs people have been asking him for. He takes the ‘iron’ nuggets of knowledge he has acquired, adds his own knowledge and understandings, mixes them together magically and ….. often – gold emerges… thanks to his teachers and ancestors. When asked about the knowledge he has harvested from the many things he has immersed himself in. He likes to acknowledge all the mistakes he has made along the way since they were all wonderful teaching resources for my clients and myself.
I am honored to offer my talents in whatever ways they may assist you in your healing and growth. I feel it’s time to offer as much of my acquired wisdom as possible in these chaotic times of change. On the following pages, I will offer the skills and talents I find people are asking me for often now and invite you to reach out and book what you need or contact me with any questions. I work with individuals, but I also work with small and large groups that I will make available. Thank you for hearing me. I hope to work with those ready and willing.
“Wisdom from the past magically stirred with knowledge from the present as a catalyst to transform your future.” ~ Jim Graywolf
The Buddhist monks of the Gaden Shartse Monastery in India finished their teachings today with an offer for attendees to take the vows of Buddhism. I felt ready to add another sacred spiritual practice to my journey. So, with deep honor and respect, I add Buddhist to my being.
Now is the time to also add as much spiritual energy to our lives as possible so we can apply all that spirit to the changes we need on Earth. ~ Jim Graywolf
Animal communicator and healer
I have worked very closely with animals in many ways as I traveled the globe. I was taught how to communicate with the animals early on by my teachers; since it was a big part of the spiritual medicine they were teaching me. It is a skill I spend time with each day – learning more constantly and deriving peace and calm from my animal brethren.
I have also been called on often to work with animals in distress and bring my healing skills to their aid. Working with animals so closely I consider one of the biggest honors of my life. People come to me to learn how to connect with the animal kingdom or for help with their animal partners domesticated or wild.
Grief counseling
Grief is pain that can stop a person from growing and moving ahead. If unreleased it festers and grows until it erupts in painful illness. I have led grief relief groups over the years. I prefer the model of grief release rather than relief: feeling it, understanding it and letting it go. That’s a way to heal and nit just find relief.
Life coach
I am a certified life coach for 15 plus years, an intuitive psychotherapist registered in Colorado and a long time spiritual guide. All of this means that I can work with you to create a coaching agenda to meet your needs- no matter how diverse they are. I start many sessions with some laughs or smiles to help keep the work easier. I left some of a comic minute with my friends in the beginning of this recording.
Shamanic healing
I was taught spirit medicine and shamanic healing by my spiritual teachers for many decades. My DNA is Romany Gypsy – Italian, Native American and a smattering of other lines. My grandmother was a medicine person in Italy before coming to the U.S. The Romani lands and people, as well as Northern India and Nepal, are the birthplaces of shamanism. All shamanic medicine – whether for body, mind or spirit – depends on nature and the Earth for much of its power – its “medicine”. In addition to my grandmother I have been blessed to have Native American, Mayan, aboriginal, Garifuna and Celtic teachers. I take all these teachings and skills acquired through decades of travelling to and living with these teachers and mix them with the Shamanic heritage of my grandmother and bring them to individuals or groups facing particularly difficult issues.
For those dealing with less impactful health issues I work with the Earth Medicine alone and help bring them to a place where the healing can begin. Whatever approach is needed for each situation I work with the people in pain or fear to create the right mix for them. I find myself turning to shamanic medicine often these days with all the overwhelming issues we face as individuals and communities now. My forty years and heritage make me respect and treat carefully this medicine. I spent all those years in the jungles, mountains, deserts and elsewhere to bring these healing gifts forward now.
Storytelling
Storytelling is a valuable life skill and a joyful immersion into entertainment and fun. Storytellers can more effectively connect to and engage their audiences then speakers and the retention rate of what they share is higher. It can also provide a joyful immersion into entertaining, fun times that provide a relief from everyday stresses. Come with me and learn the means of creating and delivering effective, fun stories. The healing energies are of the sacred places of our Mother are swirling everywhere these days. I hope many of you are asking them to work with you. Without seeking them you allow them to come to you.
My day today changed three times over a period of 12 hours. Remembering not to make a plan because you make God laugh, I got up this morning with an open heart and mind. Beautiful morning so I decided to take my dogs and head to Shaman’s Dome – one of the most sacred places here.
This place has been Shaman’s Dome for generations. Indigenous people have done ceremony here since??? I laughed as I headed out and remembered the tourism sellers and land agencies decided they had the right to change the name to Hide Out Cave – which it never was. Ah, some never get it. 🙂 Just like in Sedona Standing Eagle Rock became Coffee Pot Rock. Best to just laugh at the arrogance.
This place is not too easy to access – about 17 miles from Sedona, the last eight on rutted, unmaintained dirt roads. The last mile a really rutted, rock strewn, gnarly dirt track. I was concerned for my tires and lack of 4WD – but made it.
Once parked it’s about a 1 1/2 mile hike in. My painful knees made it a slow hike, but better than the few days before this. The dogs were thrilled. I always go on top of the dome rather than in the cave. My fear of heights does not like the narrow entrance across an exposed slopping rock. But I faced it and went in today. I drummed and meditated, then journeyed a while. Then some tourists showed up and I went up on top of the dome. I was sitting – burning sage – remembering a Native American man I met there 10+ years ago… on a snowy evening.
As I remembered this two men appeared climbing up on top where I was. As they cleared the edge they saw me and asked if I wanted to be alone since they saw me burning sage and laying my sacred pipe out next to me. I said no and invited them up. It’s a large area anyway. They came over and asked if they could smudge with my sage bowl. I offered it up. They were two Dine men – Sam and Lon (I’m not giving their Earth names since I never asked permission)- on a journey from their Navajo land to sacred places.
More people were arriving and they said they might go off and return later. I asked where they would go and they mentioned the Mago Retreat Center they had been told about. I knew it and asked if they wanted company. Off we went. I had not been there in 12 years and was interested to visit again. It was a great couple of hours. The people at Mago said my dogs could be there with me as long as they were “gentle on the land there”. They were.
About 2 hours later we returned to Shaman’s Dome and went back on top. Sam was also a pipe carrier, so we did some ceremony there, prayed for the people’s healing with our Earth and burned more sage. Lon had a flute he played throughout. Even the dogs sat quietly next to me – tired I think.
Heading back to the cars when we finished I had to go very carefully as my knees were speaking loudly to me. I knew I would pay for pushing it tonight – but it was worth it.
As we reached the cars Sam and Lon drove off with a meeting time set for us in Sedona this coming Thursday. Mexican food – yeah! As I went to my car I got a phone call. I was surprised there was reception, but I answered. It was my friend Rebekah Sage who was calling back to answer some sacred site questions I had. Right when I was at one. Coyote must have been nearby with some trickster medicine.
I visit a lot of sacred places – and will do so more often now. I will be documenting, streaming and sharing through my website soon. Come there and join my mailing list. I’d love to see you all. More freedom and privacy when we connect outside of the big social media engines. Let’s work on bringing in light, raising vibrations and just having fun together!
Sedona weddings
I have married many couples in the past years as well as officiated at many wedding vow renewals. These joyful events are an honor and a pleasure to preside over. We need joyful events in this life and these are some of the most joyful. I conduct these ceremonies in the ways of the many people who trained me over the years. My teacher Two Bears in the Native American tradition, my uncle Alberto in the Mayan traditions and the spiritual ways of my Romani people. I am also a minister in the Universal Life Church for those wishing for a ceremony involving that energy and tradition. Being in Sedona, Arizona I am blessed to offer you stunning sites of incredible natural beauty and spiritual power. Let’s create a joining ceremony together that will bring joy and peace to your being.
I can work with you to create a simple ceremony or we can partner with others for more elaborate events.
